“Our world lacks the element of hope,” Bishop Yousef Sohan declared during his homily at the opening of the Jubilee Year of Hope 2025.
Addressing pilgrims, clergy, and students gathered at the Most Holy Redeemer Cathedral on Jan. 17, Bishop Sohan emphasized the urgent need for Catholics to become “beacons of hope” in their communities.
The ceremony, which marked the official opening of the Holy Door, began with the reading of Pope Francis’ message for the Jubilee Year.
The Pope encouraged Catholics worldwide to embrace the year as an opportunity for renewed faith and hope.
The unveiling of the Jubilee Year logo further underscored this call to action, providing a visual reminder of the mission to inspire transformation.
In his address, Bishop Sohan urged attendees to reflect on their role in addressing the world’s challenges through faith and unity.
“We need to be beacons of hope, sharing our faith with one another,” he said. His message emphasized the importance of embodying hope in personal lives and sharing it within communities.
The Eucharistic celebration that followed highlighted the central themes of faith and hope, encouraging pilgrims to approach the Jubilee Year with a focus on spiritual growth and acts of compassion.
Described by Church leaders as a “grace-filled year,” the Jubilee Year of Hope 2025 offers Catholics worldwide a chance to deepen their faith and engage in evangelization efforts.
As the Jubilee unfolds, Catholics are encouraged to strengthen their faith and share the message of hope with others.
